“Excellent City” Project
Our 2nd year Primary students were very busy last term working on their “Excellent City” project.
In order to carry out this project successfully, they had to acquire knowledge about how towns and cities work, from what a city hall is and how it works to how traffic signs work.
To do this, their teachers suggested that they enter a competition promoted by Estepona City Hall. In this competition they had to create and design their own excellent city.
The students accepted the challenge and even visited Estepona to be able to work on the different aspects of their project on site. They then shared what they had learnt and divided into groups to design their own excellent cities. This process included the creation of different establishments, the election of the mayor through their own voting process, deciding what measures to take to improve the sustainability of their cities and a long list of other issues they had to discuss and decide on.
They also received help from their 6th grade classmates who helped them design a model of their cities for their Robotics class.
Finally, they learned about how the media works and decided to make a video recording of their project and submit it to the City Hall’s competition.
They all did a great job and rose to the challenge proposed by their teachers with great success. Congratulations kids!
