José Banús – Chess Tournament
Last Friday, May 31st, a group of our students from 1st to 6th years of Primary Education were invited to participate in the VII annual CEIP José Banus Chess Tournament, organised by this school in Nueva Andalucía and by the José Banus Foundation as part of their “Aulas de jaque” programme
Our students participated individually in 2 categories (A: 1st to 3rd years of Primary and B: 4th to 6th years of Primary) and as a school, combining their participation points, against the students of CEIP Fuente Nueva and CEIP José Banus, for a total of 60 participants.
After the 5 rounds of play, Colegio Atalaya won first place with 38 points, followed by CEIP José Banus with 30 and CEIP Fuente Nueva with 27.
In the A category our students Eva Martos, Isaac Pichardo and Tomás Echevarría won first, second and third places respectively.
In the B category our student Darío Martín won a meritorious third place.
To conclude this summary and perhaps more importantly than the classification, we would like to mention the great experience this was for the students and the excellent organisation of the tournament by CEIP José Banus, which we thank for the invitation.
