Read-a-Thon
Read-a-Thon
We are pleased to announce the final results of the Atalaya International School Read-a-thon which was held to raise funds for the Emaús Soup Kitchen in Estepona.
This event was organised by the students of 1st year Secondary Education and involved students from 4th, 5th and 6th year of Primary, as well as the 1st year of Secondary. For the last two months of the school year all of these students participated by finding sponsors to pledge an amount for each book they read. Our incredibly avid readers managed to raise a total amount of 2490 € for the Emaús Soup Kitchen.
We are not only extremely pleased because we are able to help others through this activity, but also because reading books has been one of the priorities amongst our students during the final months of the school year. In total, the students read over 500 books during this time! There were two top readers in each of the classes of Primary and one final top reader in 1st year of Secondary. A special congratulations to class of 5A which read 105 books.
A big thanks goes out to parents for all of their support and cooperation in order to make this Read-a-thon such a success! Also congratulations to the 1st year Secondary students for their commitment to this project which has not only benefited our students but has also reached out to help others in need.
