V Colegio Atalaya Chess Tournament

Last Friday, January 13th, we held our V Colegio Atalaya Chess Tournament with the collaboration of Paco Romero, president of the Marbella Chess Club. A total of 76 students competed: 37 students from Secondary Education and Baccalaureate and 39 students from Primary Education.

At the end of the 6 intense rounds that were disputed, plus a final, the podium of the competition ended up as follows:

Primary Education:

1st place (and 1st overall): Eric Loriente, from 5th year Primary
2nd place (and 2nd overall): Rafael Gasparyan, from 3rd year Primary
3rd place (and 8th overall): Mikel Gavira, from 5th year Primary

Secondary Education and Baccalaureate:

1st place (and 3rd overall): from Axel Blaquier, 2nd year Secondary
2nd place (and 4th overall): Frank González, from Year 2 IB
3rd place (and 5th overall): Aitor Mesa, from 1st year Baccalaureate

In addition to the classification, worthy of mention was the good sportsmanship present throughout the tournament, which made the experience even more enjoyable for everyone.
